    Employers in Australia

Finding the right talent shouldn’t be limited by geography. If you’re an Australian employer who needs skilled workers but can’t find them locally, our 12 years of business migration expertise can help you access global talent legally and efficiently.

Australia’s employer-sponsored visa programs exist precisely for this reason: to help businesses like yours grow by bringing skilled workers to fill genuine skill shortages. But let’s be honest, the sponsorship process can feel daunting. From obtaining Standard Business Sponsorship approval to nominating specific positions and supporting individual visa applications, there are multiple stages, strict requirements, and ongoing compliance obligations.

    Employer Sponsorship Programs

The Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) program allows you to sponsor skilled workers for two to four years, with some pathways to permanent residency. The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) enables direct permanent sponsorship for highly skilled positions. Regional employer sponsorship options offer more flexibility with occupations and requirements for businesses located outside major cities. Labour agreements provide tailored arrangements for specific industries or businesses with unique needs. Additionally, global talent programs target highly skilled individuals in priority sectors like technology, health, and engineering.

    Your Obligations as a Sponsor

To become an approved sponsor, your business must demonstrate it’s actively and lawfully operating in Australia, has a genuine need for skilled workers, and meets training benchmarks or pays relevant levies. For each position, you’ll need to conduct Labour Market Testing to prove you’ve genuinely tried to find local workers, offer market salary rates that meet minimum thresholds, and ensure the position is genuine and full-time. Once sponsored, you have ongoing obligations including notifying the Department of changes, maintaining records, cooperating with monitoring activities, and ensuring sponsored employees work only in their nominated position.

    The Sponsorship Process Step-by-Step

First, your business applies for Standard Business Sponsorship approval, which can take several weeks. Once approved, you nominate a specific position, providing detailed evidence of the role, salary, and labour market testing. Finally, the individual worker applies for their visa, meeting skills, English language, health, and character requirements. Throughout this process, timing is crucial, and documentation must be thorough. Mistakes can lead to refusals that impact both your business and your prospective employee.
